Challenge

Nike set the challenge to create a league or event that created equal opportunities for women to compete on the same stage as men.


Our Values:

Empowering - We want to empower females everywhere. Our empowerment comes from the fire within every woman’s soul and will be emblazoned across our league with our tough women. We want to get rid of the stigma, “like a girl.” We want to impact society’s view of what women are capable of achieving.

Inclusive - Inclusive is name and game of our league. We want all women and viewers to feel like they belong no matter your race, ethnicity, sexual preference or background.

Bold - We’re not trying to change the game. We’re trying to change the stigma that comes with women playing and understanding the game. We want our athletes to continuously push the boundaries of sport and inspire others to follow. Follow us on our journey. We want to go viral – we want to start an entire movement.

Competitive  - We have the top athletes competing head-to-head at the highest level for a chance at becoming a National Champion. Through determination and perseverance, we want our athletes to show fans that this competitive league is a movement that proves you (anyone) can achieve your craziest dream.

Innovative – The dynamics of the WFU nurtures an inventive approach to igniting social change. Women are now able to flaunt their athleticism on an equal platform while curbing stigmas and showcasing their strength.

Communication standards

The WFU will use a multitude of social platforms along with traditional television to promote and showcase the events.

Prior to the grand unveiling: Share teasers of WFU Logo a week before the grand unveiling. These will be short hype videos each day containing one of the brand’s values shared on social platforms.

The grand unveiling: The WFU logo will be revealed the day after the super bowl on national TV and on main streaming platforms. ( Twitch, FB live, IGTV, YouTube TV) The league will hold a press conference for the logo and league schedule after the reveal.

The days leading up to opening day: Individual teams will get a day in the spotlight to present themselves (meet players, team uniforms, owners, coaching staff) to the world via live streaming. Simultaneously, heavy advertising on social and streaming platforms. As more of the league is unveiled ads will become more specific and targeted.
